The chairman of the Islamic Movement in Israel, the Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, at a demonstration dubbed "Al-Aqza is in Danger" said, "You [America] have put a man on the moon, but you have not brought happiness and security to your nation or others.

"The road to happiness, to security and to peace is Islam, and I therefore call upon you [President Bush] to convert to Islam, so that justice, tolerance and brotherhood can be realized between the nations and the religions."

Sharon Cancels Meeting with Jack Straw

By VOA News

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is reported to have canceled a meeting with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, after remarks by Straw on terrorism that Israel says justify Palestinian attacks on Israelis.

There has been no official Israeli announcement about the cancellation of the planned meeting. However, sources in Sharon's office said the talks were called off because of what they called Straw's one-sided statement sympathetic to Palestinian terrorism.

In a statement issued Monday, Straw said "one of the factors that helps breed terrorism is the anger which many people in the Middle East feel at events over the years in Palestine."

Israeli officials say the remarks could be viewed as expressing understanding for terrorism against the citizens of the state of Israel.

Peres Defends Arafat As Netanyahu Goes On Offensive

By IsraelNationalNews.com

"Shimon Peres is the first Israeli astronaut." So said former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Washington earlier this week, adding, "Peres is in outer space, totally unconnected to what is going on here. He did not learn a thing from the great bloodshed caused by Oslo that he brought us."

Netanyahu was referring to Peres' dauntless efforts to meet with Yasir Arafat, despite the opinion of the top military brass that Arafat's strategy has not changed. Peres said Tuesday that there has been "a significant reduction in the extent of the attacks," that the Palestinians are shooting only light-weapons fire, and that it's already been, "I don't know, maybe 2-3 weeks since the last car bomb.

"Arafat has been making efforts to stop the mortar fire, even though I know that last night there was a mortar shell fired. The Middle East is a wild place, and there are many very extreme and terrible people. Should we make our future dependent on every Jihad sniper?"

Netanyahu told Congress that Arafat should not be thought of only as an "incidental part" of the terrorism network the U.S. is trying to dismantle. "He has been the copywriter, in many ways, of the suicide bombings," He also emphasized that the U.S. must act against regimes such as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, and the Palestinian Authority that support the terrorist network.

Israel Remains in the Middle

By IsraelNationalNews.com

The debate over whether the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks were Israel's fault continues to gain steam in the United States. One example: Hosts of a popular sports radio program in New York blame U.S. support for Israel for the attacks.

Mike Francesca and Chris Russo, hosts of the "Mike and the Mad Dog" show on WFAN, in a recent broadcast, also demanded that Jewish-Americans decide where their loyalties lie by swearing loyalty to either the United States or Israel.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer officially vindicated Israel Tueday when he rejected attempts to blame the attack on Israel.

Join the Jewish People in Proclaiming 'Shema Yisrael'

By IraelNationalNews.com

Jews have a traditional response to uncertain times, proclaiming "Shema Yisrael." The six Hebrew words of the "Shema" have always possessed tremendous power to unify and protect the Jewish people and the world at large.

"They (English translation: 'Hear, O' Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one') constitute the fundamental act of faith. Proclaiming God's oneness. By saying it all together we are also declaring our own oneness. As a people, as a nation, as part of humanity that decries senseless violence.

Millions around the globe will join together for a minute of silence followed by the recitation of the six words of Shema on Sunday night October 7th at 8 p.m. (your local time) as a memorial to the worldwide victims of terror and their families.
