Following Tuesday's attack at a Los Angeles Jewish Center, the
director of the Shuva movement -- has called for Jews around the
world to immigrate to Israel.
"Disputing the B'nai Brith and World Jewish Congress annual report
that 'Anti-Semitism in America is on the wane due to a decline in
anti-Semitic incidents,' The SHUVA movement has cited the growing
Jew hatred in the United States espoused by both black and white
supremacists whose message. 'Jews are responsible for America's
economic and social problems,' is gaining acceptance and
respectability throughout the country."
Shuva director Shifra Hoffman added she is calling upon the
government of the State of Israel to call upon American Jews to
come home to Israel "Now, before another Holocaust takes place."

Palestinian Chairman Yasir Arafat has rejected an Israeli proposal to delay implementation of the Wye River peace accords. He says Israel must carry out provisions of the accords to the letter, and he is denying reports that he might accept changes in the pact.
Arafat's comments (Thursday) came one day after Palestinian and
Israeli negotiators began trying to work out a detailed timetable
for implementing the Wye accords. They require a partial handover
of the occupied territories to the Palestinians, and the phased
redeployment of Israeli soldiers from the West Bank.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has proposed delaying completion
of the accords until talks are underway on a permanent peace
agreement with the Palestinians.
Arafat denied Israeli media reports contending he might be willing
to accept a delay if Israel set exact dates for carrying out each
of the provisions called for in the Wye Accords. Arafat says he
will not accept such a tradeoff.

Burger King is working to quickly end the controversy surrounding
the opening of its store in Maale Adumim, an area considered as
"occupied" by the Arab opponents and boycott organizers.
The sponsors of the boycott are calling upon patrons to support
McDonald's in Israel, pointing out the owner of the local franchise
has promised not to open any branches in areas that were not
under Israeli control prior to the June 1967 Six Day War.
"The Burger King Corporation confirms that it is fully aware of the
sensitivities surrounding the opening of the Burger King restaurant
in Maale Adumim on the West Bank," a statement said.
"Burger King takes this matter extremely seriously and is working
diligently with its Israeli franchisee to resolve the situation
with the utmost sense of urgency."
Khalid Turaani, executive director of American Muslims for
Jerusalem, said last week his group supported the boycott because
the restaurant was situated on "stolen land." Nine groups,
including the Arab American Institute and the Palestinian American
Congress, joined AMJ in calling for the boycott.

First, a Jordanian baby was named Yitzhak for Yitzhak Rabin. Now, another Muslim baby will be named Yitzhak, this time for Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri, the Elder Kabalist. A Muslim woman, who tried unsuccessfully to conceive for 17 years, turned 10 months ago to Kaduri to receive his blessing. Within a month she was pregnant, and last week gave birth to a boy, who will be named for the rabbi.
The baby's father, owner of a transport company, has become an
enthusiastic financial supporter of Kaduri's yeshiva, and visits
the rabbi every two months. The baby's parents hope that the
rabbi's blessing will bring them more children in the future.
