Over the next four years, Israel is going to import hundreds of
thousands of tons of boulders from Turkey weighing between 3-6 tons
each. The stones will be used as a breakwater in the area of the
Port of Ashdod.
Several weeks ago, work on expanding the port got underway and
plans include slips that are about 2 miles in length. Engineers
estimate the new project will require about three millions tons of
boulders which will be covered by 14,000 cubes of cement. Israeli
quarries are unable to supply all the boulders needed, explaining
that only about 5 percent of the stones available locally meet the
weight requirement.

The state has filed suit against Mr & Mrs Boreh, aged 64 and 67,
for illegally installing an air conditioner in their Rishon L'Tzion
home.
A municipal inspector spotted the illegal air conditioner and
issued a summons. The couple explained the unit was installed due
to their medical situation, explaining it assists them with their
various unspecified ailments.
The couple was requested by the municipality to remove the unit and
return the wall to its previous status. The two pleaded to be
permitted to leave the unit, explaining again and bringing medical
documentation to support their request.
Failing to remove the unit from the public building, the
municipality filed suit in court for installing the unit without a
local permit. The city explained that a new law now makes
non-compliance with the zoning law a 'criminal' offence and the
city plans to do whatever necessary to enforce the law.

Members of the Temple Mount Faithful organization arrived at the entrance to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Holy City Sunday, in another attempt to lay a cornerstone for the Third Temple.
As was the case in the past, the participants were not permitted to
enter the area, Judaism's holiest site. Israel police were on hand
to block them from entering the Mount.
The Temple Mount was liberated by Israeli forces in the June 1967
Six Day War. The decision was made to hand control of the Mount to
the Muslim Wakf, which has since barred Jews from praying on it,
despite if being officially under Israeli control and the holiest
location to the Jewish people.
The High Court of Justice has issued several rulings permitting
Jewish prayer on the Mount, but have permitted police to make the
final determination based on security considerations. To date,
police have not permitted Jewish prayer on the Mount, fearing a
response of Islamic violence and rioting, as was the case when
Israel opened the Hashmonean Tunnel in September 1996.

A group of Israeli investors have purchased a 20 acre parcel, on
the eastern (Jordanian) side of the Dead Sea. The investors are
planning to construct a five star hotel on the location. The
investors paid $2.4 million for the land.
The parcel is reported to be a 30-minute drive to Amman and is
located near the Amman-Aqaba Road. The Jordanian government has
already zoned the area as a plush tourist resort area. Several
hotels already exist in the area.
Attorney Yossi Ne'eman, who handled the deal for the Israel
investors, confirmed the report, adding the group paid considerably
more than the land was worth according to the going rate.
