Syria to Hold Joint Maneuvers with Russians
Syria will hold a week of military exercises with Russia at the
end of September. Syria, along with Iran and Egypt, recently
objected strenuously to the announcement that Israel, Turkey and
the US would hold joint naval maneuvers in the eastern
Mediterranean in November.
Rabbi Porush: Yemenite Children Systematically Kidnapped
By IINS News Service
Rabbi Menachem Porush, a senior figure in the Agudat Yisrael
Party and a former Knesset member and minister in many governments,
testified Thursday of having personal knowledge of kidnapped
Porush said in the 1950s, under the leadership of Prime Minister
David Ben Gurion, Yemenite children were taken from their families.
He stated the reason the children were taken was to assist the
overburdened poor Yemenite families.
Porush said he knows persons holding lists of the missing children
but at this time, he was afraid to divulge the names of persons
involved, many of whom are still alive.
Porush later said the Labor government of David Ben Gurion stole
the young children and infants from their parents to prevent them
from carrying on the long Yemenite tradition of educating the
children in the ways of Orthodox Judaism.
The Labor government worked to force the assimilation of the new
immigrants, who believed in the Land of Israel, life would be
better. For many, it meant being told their children had died of
disease, only to find out 50 years later, they were sold for profit
and are now living elsewhere, many unaware of their past.

An article by Nadav Ha'etzni in Maariv documents blatant
examples of Palestinian anti-Semitism that liken Zionism to Nazism.
On Sept. 4, the official spokesman of the Palestinian Authority --
Al-Hayat Al-Jadeedah -- featured a piece by Nabil Salaam, which
concluded: "Since its establishment, the racist Zionist entity has
been implementing various forms of terrorism on a daily basis which
are a repetition of the Nazi terror. This proves the shared roots
of Nazi and Zionist thought. This also explains the cooperation
between the Jews and the Nazis during World War II, through which
was revealed the forged claims of the Zionists regarding alleged
acts of slaughter perpetrated against the Jews during the same
In an interview with Palestinian writer Ahsan al-Agha broadcast two
weeks ago on Palestinian television, the interviewer said: "It is
well-known that every year the Jews exaggerate what the Nazis did
to them. They claim there were 6 million killed, but precise
scientific research establishes that there were no more than
Al-Agha, a teacher in Gaza, replied: "I think we are talking about
an investment. [The Jews] have profited materially, spiritually,
politically and economically from the talk about the Nazi killings.
This investment is favorable to them and they view it as a
profitable activity so they inflate the number of victims all the
time. In another 10 years, I do not know what number they will
"Last year, for the first time, a statistic appeared according to
which 1.5 million children were killed by the Nazis. This number
was not previously known... If this number was indeed correct, then
someone would certainly have remembered it... In my opinion it is
an investment, and as you know, when it comes to economics and
investments, the Jews have been very experienced ever since the
days of the Merchant of Venice."
New Ruling Pertains to Burial in Jewish Cemeteries
By IINS News Service
Minister of Immigration and Absorption Yuli Edelshtein reported
that Sephardic Chief Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi Doron has issued a ruling
which states non-Jews may be interred in a Jewish cemetery, in a
section together with Jews whose lineage is in doubt.
Grisha Paskovitch, 14, was killed in the July 30th Machane Yehuda
double suicide attack in Jerusalem. Problems arose regarding the
young victim's burial, since his mother is not Jewish.
A Greek Orthodox cleric refused to conduct the burial service in
accordance with the mother's wishes, and Edelshtein intervened and
secured a burial site for the victim in a Jewish cemetery, in a
section for those whose lineage is in doubt.
In the case of Paskovitch, whose parents did not want a Greek
Orthodox or Christian burial but wanted their son to be interred in
Jerusalem, the burial society refused to assist the family because
according to Jewish law, the boy was not a Jew.
Only after the intervention of Edelshtein and subsequently Doron,
did burial society officials agree to let the young boy be buried
in a Jewish cemetery.
